The iPhone, iTouch, and iPad apps of today are amazing at helping people keep control of their cash. This is because of the ease of software and the fact that most of us have actually lost a hand and gained an iPhone. Here are some of the best iPhone budgeting apps currently available:

1. MoneyStrands:This is a powerful app, better than its main competitor mint.com (which I didn’t even include in this list). MoneyStrands allows you to create a simple budget and gives you a snapshot of your current finances. It is very basic and user-friendly. If you’re looking for something that can help you create multiple budgets, or create a long term spending plan, this might be too basic.

2. Accounts:I love this app because I hate toting around my checkbook register. I always end up trying to play catch up at the end of the day, and I am never balanced at the end of the month. However, with Accounts, once I make a purchase, I can add it to my iPod Touch and move on with life. The app remembers recurring transactions, so you don’t have to type in $3.75 Starbucks Latte every single morning. The interface is very easy to use and you can email the info to yourself at the end of the day to add to a home based system. Just like most finance apps, you have to be consistent with this app and input all of your expenses, or else you fall behind and your data is void.

3. Ace Budget:With Ace Budget, you get to create your own budget, and this app tells you whether or not you are staying true to it. It is very easy to use, and lets you categorize all of your transactions. Its interface is easy to read and it has a nice reporting feature that tells you how you’ve fared at the end of the money, or where you are in comparison to your budget. You also have the chance to back up everything to your computer by downloading the software at the Ace Budget web page.

4. Pennies:Pennies is a nice application that lets you create a monthly budget and log your transactions. The app tells you whether your on track with a fun fuel gauge graphic, which tells you whether your account is full or empty. Pennies is a great choice for anyone on the cash system.

5. PocketMoney:The award winning PocketMoney has been around since 1994, and is still going strong. It is the one app that has everything you need to manage all of your accounts, build basic to complex budgets, create reports, and to categorize items into anything from daily to yearly expenses. While it comes with a bigger price tag, $29, it is the most comprehensive financing app available for the iPhone, the iTouch and the iPad.
