RIM’s Blackberry has a host of finance apps that are not simple and elegant, but powerful and functional. There are a range of prices, from free to $30, that will fit any person’s budget and needs.

1. Ascendo Money Personal Finance Manager – $29.99

Ascendo is an all in one personal finance app that works best when married to the desktop version. It is a comprehensive money manager that works with Ascendo for Windows. The programs synchronize to create budgets and budget analysis, transaction scheduling, account reconciliation, reports, graphs and much more. You can connect to all of your accounts online, and really get into the nitty gritty of tracking your expenses. If you are unsure about spending so much on an app, you can download the trial version and try it out for a week.

2. Personal Assistant – $6.99

Personal assistant is one of the most useful apps for blackberry. It is an all in one application that allows you to control your credit cards, check and manage your bank accounts, check on your investment portfolio, has a cell phone minute tracker, check on travel itineraries and so much more. It can even manage your Netflix queue. So innovative.

3. Mobile Checkbook – $4.99

Mobile checkbook is the best app for managing your checking account. It is great for people that already have a hold on their personal ledgers. You can record transactions, get your account information, and get your information exported to your email list. For people that are just starting to keep a ledger, the best way to use the app is as a secondary resource. Keep everything on paper first, and then transfer it all over. This app is international friendly and can manage multiple currencies.

4. Wallet – Free

This handy app managed all of those pesky numbers and information that you just don’t have brain space to remember. It holds your credit card data, reward programs numbers and information, shipping addresses, retail website login details, gift card information and more. Keep in mind that this app currently does not support the Blackberry Tour.

5. ProOnGo Expense Beta with Receipt Reader – Free

This is a personal favorite because of the receipt reader feature. With this app, you take a picture of a receipt which then goes to the app itself where the information (price) is extracted and input on your expense tracker. Fabulously easy. It is also a top mileage and time expense app and all of the information can be exported into Excel, XML, or CSV formats. This free app can also connect with Quickbooks Online and you can fax reports or statements straight from your phone. It’s main downfall? You can only input 15 receipts per month. A bummer for people that make lots of purchases.
